Our first week in Ireland has been nothing short of amazing!

Our plane ride here was mostly uneventful aside from a little restlessness from Saylor. But I guess that’s pretty expected for a four year old when flying 10+ hours on a cramped plane.

Upon arrival, we had a little hiccup with our rental car… a $1,000 hiccup. I did my research before hand and knew that Ireland requires an additional insurance that is waved and/or covered by your credit card company in most other places. I made our reservation online and the website stated in BIG bold letters that the CWD insurance was included. It turns out that it is included with the reservation, you just have to pay for it when you pick up your car… this little nugget of information was no where on the website! Believe me, I read the fine print!
Unfortunately, where we are staying, there is no way for us to get away with not having a car. We had to bite the bullet and pay the $1,400 instead of the $350 we were expecting. The worst part is…this reservation is only for 3 weeks! We are headed to Italy for 6 days the first part of March. When we return, will have to rent another car for our remaining 4 weeks here in Ireland.
The cottage we are staying in is about a 3 hour drive from Dublin on the west coast of Ireland. It is SO perfect! We booked through VRBO if you’d like to check it out HERE.

Our host, Anne, has been great! The house is furnished and equipped with everything we need! Anne is available if needed, but we have the whole house to ourselves and have really been able to make it feel like our home away from home.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t missing home a little…. mostly the food! I know Ireland isn’t necessarily known for their food…aside from the whole potato thing, but I wasn’t expecting it to be quite so different! Luckily, there’s plenty of yummy candy to get me by. I don’t know what it is, but the chocolate here is seriously amazing!!

My absolute favorite part so far has been the scenery and the animals… specifically the cows! They are the fattest, fluffiest things ever and I’m OBSESSED!

It was the perfect little addition to my cow picture turned Digital Art! So…we drove an hour to the nearest/easiest printing place to get it done! It’s only been a week but I’m already dying to DIY something. I’ve searched high and low for some mod podge but haven’t had any luck, yet. A wire cable and clothes pin will have to do for now!
